Boat hire on Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour is the best party venue in the country: the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, quiet bays for a swim and the city skyline after dark. Every boat on this page comes with a licensed skipper and crew, so your group only has to turn up at the wharf.

Which boat suits your group

  • Up to 20 guests: motor cruisers, sailing yachts and catamarans for birthdays, small hens and family days. Easy to anchor in a bay for a swim and lunch.
  • 20 to 60 guests: party boats and large catamarans with sound systems, shade and room to dance. The usual choice for hens, bucks and birthday parties.
  • 60 guests and up: multi-deck cruisers for work functions, Christmas parties and engagement parties, with catering and bar staff.
  • Something grand: crewed superyachts for the occasions that deserve one.

What it costs

Each boat shows its starting price and the price per person at full capacity. Pick a date, start time and group size on any boat to see the full total before you book: boat, crew, pick-up fees and any food and drink packages. Weekday and daytime trips are usually cheaper than Saturday nights, and summer weekends book out months ahead.

Food and drinks

Many Sydney boats let you bring your own food and drinks (a small BYO fee may apply), and most offer catering packages from canapés to a full sit-down meal. The options for each boat are listed on its page.

Where you board

Boats pick up from wharves across the harbour, including King Street Wharf, Star City Casino Wharf, Man O'War Steps near the Opera House, Rose Bay, Double Bay and Manly. Each boat lists the wharves it uses, and some charge a small fee for pick-ups away from their home berth.

New Year's Eve and big nights

New Year's Eve on the harbour is the biggest night of the year on the water and boats sell out early. Vivid Sydney in winter and Australia Day are close behind.

Good to know

  • Most boats have a minimum hire time, shown on the boat page.
  • Guests must be 18 or over to drink alcohol on board, and the crew will refuse service to anyone intoxicated.
  • Booking with Floatspace earns Qantas Frequent Flyer points on eligible boats.
