What to do if it rains on your boat charter

Let’s be honest, no one hires a boat for the day, hoping it will rain. We get it, you imagined perfect blue sky and smooth sailing. However, a bit of rain doesn’t mean it’s going to be a total wash out - literally! In fact, some of the most memorable fun happens when things don’t go exactly as you expected.

You can still do all the things you planned, from enjoying the water toys and swimming in secluded bays to cruising around enjoying the view. Check out our tips on what to do if it rains during your charter.

Don’t stress just yet

I hate to bag the Bureau of Meteorology, but it seems to us the forecast is quite often more than a little off. Especially when you’re checking more than a few days in advance.

When it comes to the weather, there really is absolutely nothing you can do to control it, so don’t stress and wait it out, you might be pleasantly surprised. Often in summer you’ll get a passing shower, that just rolls on out as fast as it appeared.

Know the facts

Your booking will still go ahead, even if it’s raining. Boats are designed for water and a little bit of rain won’t stop your charter or your fun. As long as it’s safe to do so, which in most cases it will be, your charter will be going ahead. All our boats have great indoor areas as well as covered decks and entertaining spaces, so you’ll be sure to stay dry and cosey. Our skippers all know the best bays and coves when it comes to staying protected from the weather and giving you the best experience. You can relax knowing you’re in safe hands.

Be prepared

OK. so there’s obvious things you can do, like bring a change of clothes or wet weather gear. But, there’s also a few little extras that will make all the difference when it comes to your boat charter. Like putting extra thought into your playlist to get everyone up and dancing.Whether it’s up close and personal inside the boat or out in the rain. You could also think about bringing hot chocolates on board (with Baileys) to warm everyone up with.

Embrace it

OK so you can’t control the weather, but you can choose how you feel about it. You’re still spending the day on your own private boat with your favorite peeps, a few drinks and some yummy food. You are going to have a great time no matter what. Don’t let something you can’t control spoil your special day. Dance in the rain, swim in the water and embrace this wonderful Australian summer.
